|S-Lon Lanka (Pvt) Ltd is the flagship company of the Capital Maharaja Organisation. It pioneered the production of PVC pipes in Sri Lanka and is, today, the country's largest producer of PVC pipes accounting for over 55% of the total PVC market.
The Company manufactures and markets a complete range of PVC systems and products for a host of applications that range from conduits for potable cold water, ground water, sewerage, drainage, waste water and irrigation, to rainwater disposal systems, electrical and telecom conduits. Its product range has been extended to include plastic water tanks, electrical accessories such as switches and sockets as well as a host of household. plastic products. It also markets and distributes a range of cleaning products such as mops and scrubbers.
S-Lon has been manufacturing PVC pipes for almost 50 years now. And, whilst being the leader in the supply of PVC products to the domestic market, also has the distinctive honour of providing water management solutions to key water supply projects undertaken in Sri Lanka. In addition, S-Lon is also a major contributor to the development of the telecom sector, with its supply of telecom conduits to telecom companies in Sri Lanka.
Presently, S-Lon proposes to diversify in to the hardware field, where a host of products are under consideration. In addition, the Company is also on the threshold of introducing, H.D.P.E. pipes and fittings for water supply projects and the telecom industry.
S-Lon manufactures its range of pipes and fittings at its plants at Ratmalana and Ja Ela. Production is carried out by its wholly owned subsidiary, Industrial Plastics (Pvt) Ltd. and certified to ISO 9000:2001 standards.
The factories are equipped with state-of-the-art machinery required for blending, extrusion and injection moulding and has have a total capacity of 1000 metric tonnes a month.
Equipment comprises two turbo rapid blenders, having capacities of 500 and 350 litres respectively, with computer controlled turbo rapid extruders, injection moulding machines and solvent cement manufacturing facilities.
Further, at Ja Ela the company recently expanded its facilities with the installation of rotomoulding machinery and compression moulding machinery. This equipment enabled the company to enter the field of water tanks and melamine tableware.
The history of S-Lon PVC pipes is in fact the history of the PVC pipe industry in Sri Lanka. In 1957, the then forerunner to Capital Maharaja Organisation pioneered the PVC industry on the Island with the introduction of rigid PVC pipes and fittings for the first time in Sri Lanka. It gained early acceptance, capturing the enthusiastic attention of engineers, architects, plumbers and builders, and so beginning a revolution in water supply and drainage systems in Sri Lanka.
Since then, S-Lon has been a household name for PVC pipes and continues to remain the market leader to date.
In 1987, S-Lon Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. commenced independent operations, having previously operated as part of the Industrial Division of Capital Maharaja Organisation.
In 2001, S Lon entered the market for water storage tanks under the brand name of PE+ and, in 2002, it diversified into the electrical accessories market with the introduction of the Kevilton range of switches and sockets.
Today, S-Lon provides a comprehensive range of pipes, gutters and fittings for all possible applications. In addition to the supply of potable water, these applications also include waste, vent, sewer, rainwater, drainage and irrigation. In addition, an agreement with world renowned manufacturer, George Fischer-Wavin Ag of Switzerland, gives S-Lon the sole distributorship of their products in Sri Lanka. S-Lon also manufactures its own branded solvent for use in the connection of pipes and fittings into a permanent piping system. Completing the portfolio is a range of ball valves and ABS taps.
Under the Kevilton brand name, it manufactures and markets a range of electrical switches, sockets and fan and light dimmers ranging from 5 AMPs to 15 AMPs in a wide range of colours. A unique feature of the "Rainbow" range is that it allows the user to change the colour of the switch, to match the colour of the wall, without having to change the entire switch.
The range is equipped with AG401 Safety systems with Silver Cadmium contacts and is 100% safe for use in homes and other places.
Storage water tanks are manufactured and marketed under the brand name PE+ and are available in sizes ranging from 500 to 2000 litres. These tanks have been designed with uncompromising hygiene as a plus. The tanks have two unique features – a thick shoulder, which helps entry inside the tank for cleaning, and a threaded lid, which prevents dirt from entering the tank.
The Company's range of plastic household items include buckets, tubs, water bottles, lunch carriers, etc. as well as hose pipes.
Finally, the Company imports and markets a range of cleaning products such as mops, scrubbers, glass and floor cleaners from Vileda GmBH.
