History
The Harrisons Shipping of today has its origins in two companies, Jones Carriers Ltd. and Harrisons Cargo.
 Jones Carriers was set up by The Maharaja Organisation in 1973 to handle its ever increasing import and export activities. Harrisons Cargo was a division of Harrisons & Crosfield, a company that the Group assumed management of in 1989. Harrisons Cargo was formed in 1903 and for years was operating the Barber Fernvile Line as a vessel agent in Sri Lanka. In addition it was handling major export volumes of tea, rubber and spices. |
Harrisons Shipping (Pvt) Ltd was formed in 1992 with the merger of the Harrisons Cargo division and Jones Carriers Ltd. As a result, Harrisons Shipping today has a vast and varied experience in all forms of shipping and freight services.
